Planning Committee Spotlights: April McAllaster, SoCalGas

“Meeting peers and making connections with people in the utility industry from across the country is my favorite part of being a Planning Committee member,” April McAllaster explained. With 2025 being her second year on the PC, McAllaster now has history and experience in her pocket. She serves on the Contact Center Conference workshops tract and Deep Dives teams.

Project manager for organization and operational readiness in its Vista Program (CIS replacement project) at Southern California Gas or SoCalGas for short, McAllaster advocates for IUCX participation by encouraging her colleagues to register and by showcasing the good work her company is doing. “My role is ensuring the hundreds of internal stakeholders at SoCalGas are prepared for the huge transformation of replacing our nearly 30-year-old CIS system. My team oversees communication, organizational change management, culture and teaming, training and target operational model strategy.”  She regularly listens to the podcast Transformation Ground Control, given her role on the replacement project and her desire to soak in all things related to digital and business transformation.

“2025 is my 25th year with SoCalGas, and my professional experience has primarily been in customer service operations. I joined the Vista Program in 2024 to contribute to a legacy project. While my role is focused on business transformation and operational readiness, at its heart Vista is a technology project. I’m learning a great deal about technology transformations, raising and addressing risks, dependencies, moving at a fast pace and the critical aspects of bringing stakeholders along the journey in a strategic and thoughtful way. “I’m excited for what lies ahead in 2025!”

Married to her childhood sweetheart, McAllaster and her husband have three teenagers, ages 19, 16 and 13. When not at work, she enjoys gardening, organizing and spending time with her family and friends. Together, they enjoy family vacations visiting national parks and learning about history. While she lives in Southern California, McAllaster’s roots and heart reside in Pittsburgh, PA. Last summer, her family toured Acrisure Stadium (formerly Heinz Field) in Pittsburgh over the summer. “We’re a huge sports family and love the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. We also took a trip to NYC and visited the Statue of Liberty!”
