Staying Organized in 2025 with To-Do Lists

Better than a bow tied around your finger, to-do lists serve so many purposes, especially after the holiday season when fingers came in handy for picking up sweets or dipping in the punchbowl for a furtive taste.

Is science really behind to-do lists? A quick Google AI inquiry produced this: “The psychological concept called the "Zeigarnik Effect," states that our brains tend to remember unfinished tasks better than completed ones. That means writing down tasks on a list helps us focus on completing them and reduces the mental burden of remembering them all at once. This act of listing tasks can also provide a sense of accomplishment and motivation when crossed off, triggering dopamine release in the brain.”

Key points about the science behind to-do lists:

Reduced cognitive load: By writing down tasks, you free up space in your working memory, allowing you to focus on the current task at hand without being distracted by other things you need to do.

Positive reinforcement: Checking off completed tasks on a list provides a small sense of accomplishment, motivating you to continue working towards the next item.

Goal setting: Creating a to-do list helps you break down large goals into smaller, manageable steps, making them seem less overwhelming and more achievable.

Prioritization: To-do lists allow you to prioritize tasks, ensuring you focus on the most important ones first.

Who knew to-do lists could be so good for us! Make them part of your New Year’s resolutions.  We’ve taken the liberty of starting your to-do list with these three IUCX Es, plus contact names for assistance:
